What it is

The Elementary and Special Education Transfer Pathway A.S. offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Elementary and Special Education bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities*.

The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the 7 Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.

*This transfer pathway Associate of Science in Education and Special Education will transfer to the following majors:

  • Bemidji State University: Elementary Education, B.S.
  • Metropolitan State University: Urban Elementary Education, B.S.
  • Minnesota State University, Mankato: Elementary Education, B.S.
  • Minnesota State University Moorhead: Elementary Inclusive, B.S.
  • St. Cloud State University: Elementary Education K-6. B.A
  • Southwest Minnesota State University: Elementary Education, B.S. (online)
  • Winona State University: Elementary Education K6, B.T.
     

Highlights

  • By the end of the program, you will have created an electronic portfolio highlighting your achievements in the program that can be used to secure a position as an associate educator and continue to develop as you work towards your teacher licensure.
  • Through strong partnerships with the Minneapolis Public Schools, you will have to opportunity to observe excellent teachers, tutor and mentor individual students and teach small groups of students throughout the two year program.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to practice with progressive models of education that imagines students as powerful and engaged citizens of our world.
