Starting Point

Starting Point is TRIO Student Support Services program. The program's mission is to increase retention, transfer and graduation rates of low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities.

We accomplish our mission by:

  • Providing comprehensive advising, academic support and cultural & social opportunities
  • Meeting the needs of a diverse, multicultural campus community
  • Respectfully serving individuals with different abilities, interests and goals in a student-centered environment
  • Advocating for access to higher education

As a summary, all you need to do is:

  • Be admitted to MCTC
  • Complete a Starting Point application
  • Provide proof of eligibility

We provide a number of services to participants in TRIO Starting Point. These services have been developed to help TRIO students reach their goals while on campus.

The Starting Point Tutoring Center provides free tutoring services for Starting Point students.
