Manufacturing - MSSC Certified Production Technician

The purpose of the Certified Production Technician (CPT) program is to certify individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of manufacturing production at the front-line (entry-level through front-line supervisor). Developed by the Manufacturing Skills and Standards Council , the path to certification requires successful completion of four CPT classes and passing the certification exams. Students who earn this certification have the ability to enter manufacturing jobs prepared for their roles and working environment. This program emphasizes cross-functional employability skills such as communications, teamwork, customer awareness, workplace conduct, and flexibility.

To earn the CPT credential, complete the following four classes, each of which concludes with the required certification exam:

  • Safety Awareness: introduces OSHA standards relating to personal protective equipment, HAZMAT, tool safety, confined spaces, and others.
  • Maintenance Awareness: introduces the concepts of routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and total productive maintenance.
  • Manufacturing Process & Production: emphasizes Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing principles, basic supply chain management, communication skills, and customer service.
  • Quality Practices: covers continuous improvement concepts and how they relate to a quality management system.

Series price: $1400 ($350 per course), which includes certification exam vouchers. You will need to provide the following textbooks; we recommend seeking used books or eBooks (purchased new, the books cost about $200).
