Coffee & Culture Series at MCTC on April 4

Coffee and Culture Event at MCTC

Coffee & Culture Series
“It is not our differences that divide us, it is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.” – Audre Lorde

MCTC prides itself on bringing people of diverse backgrounds together to share, learn and hold meaningful conversations about issues and ideas that are important to them. The Coffee & Culture series provides students, faculty and staff the opportunity to connect around differences and similarities while building relationships that broaden their understanding of one another.  We invite you to join us for one or all of these engaging conversations.
Community Values, February 27, 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., H.1002
Values help us grow, develop and connect to one another. Join this insightful conversation to reflect on your values and beliefs, hear from others throughout our campus and discuss the role of values in our community.
Storytelling with MCTC Veterans, April 4, 11:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., H.1002
The oral tradition of storytelling is an important way for people to connect around the human experience. MCTC will gather veterans from across our campus to share their experiences and engage you in conversation about their individual and collective legacy.
“The Coffee & Culture Series is an outgrowth of the ‘Inclusion Experience,’ a five-hour inclusiveness conference offered by students, faculty and staff a few years ago,” said MCTC Director of Student Life, Tara Martinez. “The conference was so successful in bringing our community together, we decided to maintain the momentum by continuing to provide a safe, open space for students to gather and explore important issues.” According to Martinez, Coffee & Culture is a collaboration of MCTC Student Life working alongside a broad range of departments and student groups from throughout its campus.
