Diversity and Equity
Minneapolis Community and Technical College is proud to be one of the most diverse schools in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system. Our students, who are diverse in age, ethnic origin, national origin, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, religious beliefs, creeds and income are eager to learn and share with one another in a global campus environment. In fact, our students tell us the diversity on our campus is one of the number one reasons they decided to pursue their studies at MCTC.
We couldn’t agree more with how valuable diverse perspectives and experiences are in the learning process. Whether students are discussing issues in a political science course or trying to figure out a bit of code in a programming class––having diverse individuals working together helps all involved to see with a wider lens.
We work to foster appreciation and respect to ensure students, faculty and staff feel welcome on our campus and are encouraged to learn from one another. We focus on building understanding, providing student support and resources for success and connecting our community with opportunities to learn more about one another.
The Department of Diversity and Equity is responsible for leading the Educational Equity Task Force, developing a menu of diversity training and guiding changes in college policies, practices and culture that support MCTC's goal of achieving educational equity.
