Welcome to Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. VUB is a federally funded TRiO program designed to prepare veterans for college.
VUB offers free college prep courses in writing, reading, math, science, computer literacy, French, and study skills. As a full-service education center, veterans can receive career, personal, and financial aid counseling, enrollment assistance, GED preparation, and one-on-one tutoring. In addition, a full-time VA benefits counselor is on staff to assist veterans in applying for educational benefits.
At VUB success springs from a simple idea: students work at their own pace without grades. Personal attention coupled with quick feedback on assignments aid students to make the academic progress that enables them to enroll in college when they are ready. Throughout the 34-year history of Veterans Upward Bound, hundreds of men and women have successfully completed college and built careers in their chosen fields.
Veterans Upward Bound supplies all books and supplies to students without cost. As an added bonus, students can begin to draw on their VA education benefits while they are enrolled in the program. Veterans with a service-connected disability might be eligible for additional benefits.
