- A: Starting Point's program objectives are to increase retention, graduation and transfer rates to colleges offering Bachelor's degrees. If you work hard and make use of the services we offer, you will be more likely to learn more from your classes and continue your education.
- Q: Am I eligible for Starting Point?
- A: Eligibility depends on a number of factors including household income and educational level. More information can be found at Apply to Starting Point.
- Q: What documentation do I need to qualify?
- You will need some form of identification and verification. More information can be found at Apply to Starting Point.
- Q: How long is the waiting list for Starting Point?
- A: Students are screened for eligibility and accepted into the program on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may request an application and/or more information from Sharon LeClaire,
in H.2405, or call 612-659-6565.
- Q: What do I have to do as a student?
- A: You need to make being a student a major priority. See our student responsibilities page.
- Q: Where is Starting Point located?
- A: You will find the Starting Point director, advisors, secretary, and computer room in H.2400 in the Helland Center. Starting Point’s tutoring center is located in H.2600
- Q: Does Starting Point offer financial assistance?
- A: Maybe. Your Starting Point advisor can describe what assistance you may qualify for.
- Q: How do I find out about transferring?
- A: Your Starting Point advisor can guide you through the process. Join Starting Point on campus tours and attend our transfer workshops.
- Q: How do I arrange for a tutor?
- A: Visit the Tutoring Center, H.2600 and the tutors will help you sign up for a time on the appropriate sheet outside the door.
