Student email assistance
Creating your email account
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. In the left side-bar, click "Initialize Account".
- Read through this page. Next, under "Students", at step "1.", click "Initialize Account".
- Read the MetNet E-Mail Policy. Click appropriate button. If "I Agree", continue.
- Enter required information; click "Submit" button.
- (Note: Password must contain both letters and numbers and be between 6-8 characters long.)
- Write down your "Username" as displayed.
Note: If you experience problems while attempting to initialize your account, you will need to go to the Computer Lab located in T.3200 (bring your picture ID). We will be happy to assist you, but can only do so in person and not over the phone.
Using your email account
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. On the left, click on "E-mail Login".
- Select your preferred version of WebMail: WebMail 2.0 or WebMail 3.0.
- Enter your Username (four letters followed by four numbers) and Password.
- When finished, remember to click on "Logout", and close the browser.
Note: The first time you set a password, you will be asked to set a Security Question. See the last four steps of "CHANGING YOUR SECURITY QUESTION", on back.
Lost/Forgotten password
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. In the left side-bar, click on "E-Mail Login".
- Select your preferred version of WebMail: WebMail 2.0 or WebMail 3.0.
- The fourth paragraph down is "Forgot your password? Change it here". Click on "here".
- At the "Internet Account Password Reset" page, enter in the requested information (for example, Username: = last1234) and you will be prompted for your Security Hint question. Enter the answer and then reset your password.
Changing your password
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. At the top of the page, click "E-mail Services". To the right, under Quick Links, click "Change Password".
- Enter the required information and click "Submit".
- (Note: Password must contain both letters and numbers and be between 6-8 characters long.)
Changing your security question
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. In the left side-bar, click on "Set Account Options".
- Enter Username and Password and click "Login".
- Click on "Set Account Password Hint".
- Choose a security question you feel would be the most difficult for others to guess.
- Type the answer. Re-check spelling!
- To apply the change, click the "Set Security Question" button.
- A confirmation page will open, stating "Security Question Set".
Choosing a sent items folder
- Access your MetNet e-mail account and click on the "Create New Mailbox" icon.
- A new Mailbox (folder) will be created with the title "untitled". Highlight "untitled" and re-name it (i.e. Sent Items).
- Click "Set Name". Click "Preferences" tab/link.
- Scroll down to "Sent-mail folder:". Choose your newly created folder from the drop-down list.
- Click "Apply My Changes". This takes you back to the "In-Box" with the message, "Preferences saved". Please Note:
- For this change to be saved, you MUST logout before doing anything else.
- From this point on, MetNet will copy outgoing messages to the "Sent Items" mailbox (folder).
Forwarding your email (optional)
- Go to MetNet's Email Services webpage. Under Quick Links, click on "Forward E-mail".
- Log In and scroll to "Set E-mail Forwarding". Select "Other:"
- Enter the desired e-mail account address which will receive your forwarded e-mails. Re-check spelling!
- Click "Submit" and review your changes.
- You will need to wait at least 15 minutes for this change to be updated and forwarding to occur.
- Click the "Menu" button OR click on "E-mail Services" in the menu at the top. Please Note:
- You will need to verify forwarding to your other account.
- Send an e-mail to your MetNet account and then check for delivery to your forwarded account.
