Work study
Work study programs are another form of financial aid and give you the opportunity to work on-campus at MCTC. If your financial aid award letter includes work study, you should refer to it for procedures on applying for a work study position. A list of current work study positions is also available (see below).
There are three types of work study:
- Federal Work Study – through this program, part-time employment is provided for half-time students who have demonstrated financial need. Eligible students may work up to 20 hours per week in a campus job, or with a public or non-profit agency in the community; however funding is limited. Summer employment opportunities may also be available.
- State Work Study – this program is similar to federal work study, however, students must be Minnesota residents who are enrolled in at least six credits.
- Institution Work Study – this program offers employment opportunities to students who do not qualify for other financial assistance. Students with special skills -- such as fluency in a foreign language or tutoring abilities -- are needed by MCTC to fill job openings.
