Internet & Zines

Alternative Internet Resources
Web pages devoted to alternative ideas organized into subject areas. A great place to find alternative viewpoints on the Web.

MCTC Zine Index
Search for zines in the MCTC collection. Zines are self-published magazines, representing the truly "underground press." Our zines do not circulate but are available for viewing and photocopying in the library. We currently have about 2,500 zines in the collection.

Print-off and use the Zine Subject Thesaurus to help you search for zines by topic.

Thanks to Chris Dodge, librarian at the Utne Reader, for his gift of zines to start our collection. Thanks also goes to John Daniels, a workstudy student who indexed the first 850 zines in the collection. John is now on staff as circulation supervisor and oversees the organization of the zine collection. Additional thanks goes out to all those who have sent copies of their zines to our collection. If you wish us to add your zine to the library collection please send a copy to:

If you want to locate material that will help you collect alternative resources go to the Bibliographic Tools for the Alternative Press web page, which is part of Counterpoise, an alternative review journal published quarterly (the MCTC Library subscribes to Counterpoise). Or consult the MCTC Library's Alternative Press Collection page.
