When you need a contract
You need a contract...
- ...anytime a guest speaker or performer is hired to speak or perform before a class, conference or event (including speakers and performers whose presentation is open to the public) and the total gross compensation (fee and reimbursement) does not exceed $1000, use the Guest Lecturer Contract. For any performer or speaker whose gross compensation exceeds $1000 use a Professional and Technical
Contract.
Please note that we must withhold 2% of the gross compensation for any non-resident (in Minnesota) performer or speaker paid $2000 or more. This limit does not apply if the payment is for reimbursement of expenses only
- ...any time individuals are needed to perform a task(s), which are predominately
"intellectual" or "technical" in character, which could include
consulting analysis, evaluation, prediction, planning or recommending policies,
wiring or alterations to the building performed by hired professionals. Use a
Professional and Technical
Contract.
- ...any time there are new building projects or alterations in or to the building.
Get written bids and attach lowest bid to the Construction
Contract. NOTE: You will need two written bids or quotations
for any purchase over $10,000.00. Any purchase over $25,000.00 must be advertised
to the public. Please contact the purchasing manager to assist you.
You need a contract amendment...
- ...any time when a contract that is already in place is changed in any way (Professional Technical Contract Amendment). A contract amendment requires the same signature process as the original contract (please see below).
