Organization:

MCTC is a two-year college located in downtown Minneapolis, serving the diverse, multicultural communities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. We provide a comprehensive offering of developmental, liberal arts, pre-professional, professional, and technical programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as leader, administrator and evaluator of the Federal TRiO programs including Student Support Services; Educational Opportunity Centers; Veterans Upward Bound; Talent Search and Upward Bound.
  • Supervise and evaluate TRiO personnel, and other personnel as assigned.
  • Responsible for development and/or administration of budgets in areas of supervision.
  • Serve as liaison between the TRiO Programs and the college, surrounding community and community agencies, businesses and other groups, K-12, advisory committees, state and national groups.
  • Supervises the grant management of the programs including grant writing, budget management and report writing to the college, the state of Minnesota and the US Department of Education.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of teaching  or counseling at the higher education level.
  • Three years of leadership experience specifically in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to blend the mission of TRiO and the mission of the College.
  • Knowledge of U.S Department of Education policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in advocating for the special populations represented in TRiO
  • Promotion of professional development of staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish and maintain a high degree of personal and departmental integrity and openness with students, faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership, management, and supervision of personnel.
  • Demonstrated skill in working effectively with personnel conflicts and concerns.
  • Experience in developing, organizing and administering budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability as an effective communicator who will listen, is open to new ideas/suggestions and responds in a timely way to faculty, students and staff with response to questions or concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to seeking multiple ways in problem solving, an ability to deliver the "no" message and have a sense of humor.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize time and complete diverse tasks.
  • Evidence of a strong and clear commitment to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

  • Demonstrated ability to administer in a fair, thorough and thoughtful way.
  • Will support program values of diversity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel overnight for professional meetings and attend or manage evening and weekend events.
Salary: $62,451 - $ 99,925
