What to do if blocked from registering for a class
You could be "blocked" from registering for classes because:
- The class you want is full
- You owe money
- You are on academic suspension
- The MCTC registration system does not acknowledge that you have the prerequisites for the course, particularly if you are a new student. Prerequisites, which are listed in the class schedule and college catalog, are courses or test placements that you must have before you are allowed to register for courses.
If you think the registration system doesn't acknowledge the prerequisites you should:
- Complete the Waiver of Course Prerequisite Form for the upcoming semester and you may get registered for the course you need.
- When completing this form, attach any documentation that proves you have met the course prerequisites listed in the college catalog (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
- Submit the completed form to the Student Services Center.
- The form will be evaluated within two to three business days and you will be notified via phone or email.
Note: You will still need to follow the transcript evaluation process to avoid being blocked from a course for future semesters.
