Information for students

As a college student, you will be responsible for identifying your needs and requesting disability services. If you are attending college classes while still enrolled in high school or if you are transferring from another post secondary institution, you should meet with an advisor from the Disability Services Office to plan your transition, provide documentation, and obtain information on college services available at MCTC.

Students currently enrolled in high school

If you have a disability, you are responsible for seeking reasonable accommodations through the Disability Services Office. If you have an individualized education plan from your high school, contact the disability services coordinator as soon as possible.

Transfer students

If you are transferring to another institution, contact the Disability Services Office at the new institution to get advice on how to register for services. You may be able to obtain copies of documentation from your previous institution to give to your new institution. Otherwise, you may be asked to sign release forms for transferring this information directly between the institutions.

Student responsibilities and advocacy

Self-advocacy is critical to success in higher education. Due to privacy laws, colleges and universities are restricted from seeking out students with disabilities, so you are responsible for requesting the services you need.
