Tutoring lab

Welcome to the Learning Center's Tutoring Lab (T.4300). We will open for the fall semester on September 2, 2008. These computers are here to supplement the work students do in their classes. The staff of the Learning Center wants to help as many students as possible with the limited number of computers and tutors we have. Our main goals are:

• To tutor students who request help with software programs
• To provide computer-assisted instruction in the basic skill areas
• To provide the technology, equipment, and services necessary to enhance World Languages and ESL coursework

General hours - Fall 2008 - Beginning September 2, 2008

Monday and Tuesday	8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday	8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Learning Center tutoring lab policy

1. This lab is for students who need tutoring on software programs and/or students who want to work on computer-assisted-instruction programs.
2. Our tutoring lab staff can get students started with computer-assisted-instruction programs and help with the basics of the following programs: Windows 2000, Office XP, D2L, Internet, and MCTC E-mail. If students need additional help with any of these programs, they should ask the College Lab Assistant and sign up for an individual appointment with one of our tutors.
3. Each student who uses the tutoring lab must check in at the desk in the tutoring lab leave his/her student ID. The ID will be returned when the student returns the computer pass.
4. Students may not bring their own software programs to put on the computer. Under the direction of the Office for Students with Disabilities, we might install software for individual students.
5. Occasionally, computers might be reserved for a class or for a tutoring session. If so, signs will be posted on the computers.
6. We ask students to follow the same guidelines that the college has for all computer labs: no food, no drink, and no children in the lab.

8. In case a student must leave the tutoring lab, he/she is allowed to reserve his/her assigned computer for 10 min only. Before you leave, please save your work and tell one of the computer monitors that you are going.
