Office hours and study groups

The Learning Center serves faculty as well as students. You may hold some of your office hours in our center; we will put a reserved sign on one of our tables so your students know where to look for you. Also, you may hold study groups, writing conferences, or test review groups in the Learning Center either on a regular basis or as needed. Please call Luanne at 612-659-6140 to let her know the day and times for either office hours or study groups.

Resources

We have some reference materials and other resources that tutors may use for their own information or to use with students. If you would like to give the Learning Center any materials for these uses, call Luanne at 612-659-6140. Current textbooks and other student materials, however, are housed in the library in the reserve section.

Tours

You are always welcome to bring a class into the Learning Center for a short tour. Luanne will arrange for a tour guide if you call her at the number above. If you'd rather have someone visit your class to talk about Learning Center services, please ask us. Luanne will schedule it for you.

Syllabus “Ad” for the Learning Center

Additionally, we encourage you to announce our services to your students in your syllabus. Below is a brief “advertisement” you may copy and paste into your syllabus if you'd like:

Learning Center

The Learning Center provides free tutoring by appointment or on a walk-in basis with both peer tutors and professional tutors. There is a tutoring lab inside as well, with tutors who can help you if you are inexperienced using the computer, need help with an online course, would like assistance with a computer course, or classroom software for the ESL and World Language courses. Additionally, the Learning Center offers regular mini-sessions on topics in math, English, ESOL, and study skills.
