Speech Communication

The Speech Communication Department at Minneapolis Community and Technical College educates students how to communicate effectively in a wide variety of contexts.

The classes the Speech Communication Department offer instruct students to communicate in public, social and professional settings, along with starting, maintaining and repairing relationships. Many other communicative skills are addressed as well, depending on the class. (Please refer to the above link to get a full description of all classes offered by the Speech Communication Department.)

Our department strives to educate students so that they can become effective and competent members of the community educationally, socially and professionally.

Mission Statement

We are committed to providing learning opportunities for students with diverse backgrounds, learning abilities, and interests, and we are committed to cultivating critical thought, awareness of communication choices and an understanding of the impact that those choices have for our society and the global community.
