In April 2008 the MCTC English department won a MnSCU Academic and Student Affairs Award for Excellence in Curriculum Programming.
The award recognizes the intensive collaborative effort of the division to revise the writing curriculum, and their ongoing work to create coherence for their three-course writing sequence.
As a consequence of the basic writing curriculum revision and the subsequent revision of the college-level writing courses, the division updated its mission statement and created an assessment plan that was useful to the division and its students.
In short, through powerful collaborative decision-making rooted in current composition studies theory and practices, the MCTC English division was able to revise, update, and significantly improve its writing curriculum.
