About the Play
Urinetown is an irreverent, comedic take on what is becoming our national reality, where the line between the government and corporate America is blurred to the point of virtual non-existence. Developed by one of the nation's preeminent improv troupes, the Neo-Futurists, this ingenious musical explodes on the stage with a unique blending of Brechtian drama and modern musical style and melody. Winner of three TONY Awards, the ground-breaking musical's lampooning of corporate greed, industrial waste, and class warfare make it as meaningful today as it was when it premiered in 2001. With songs like "Privilege to Pee" and "Snuff that Girl," the audience should prepare to be shocked, wildly entertained, and thrillingly illuminated by URINETOWN, The Musical.
Urinetown is directed by Justin M. Kirkeberg. Music and lyrics are by Mark Hollman and the book and lyrics are by Greg Kotis.
"A sidesplitting sendup of greed, love, revolution (and musicals!), in a time when water is worth its weight in gold." -Music Theatre International
"...another great musical that makes us laugh at tyranny.... a defiant declaration of the power of theater." -New York Times
