Q: How do I benefit from High School Upward Bound?

A: HSUB offers academic, vocational and career counseling; access to computer based career and post secondary educational information; a six week summer program held on campus; tutoring; assistance to parents in matters affecting the student's educational progress; monthly Saturday meetings; weekly stipend (money) based on the student's school and academic performance; financial aid information and parent workshops; support in selecting and being admitted to a post secondary institution; field trips and cultural and recreational activities.

Q: Am I eligible for HSUB?

A: You need to be a student in one of the high schools we serve: North, Henry, Edison, Roosevelt and Highland. Also you need to be low income and/or a first generation college student (this means that your parents or guardians do not have a college degree).

Q: What documentation do I need to qualify?

A: You will need some form of identification and income verification. Verification of income is required. We accept the most recent federal income tax form or other proof of income for this purpose.

Q: How do I sign up for HSUB?

A: The tutors at your high school (Henry, North, Edison, Roosevelt, Highland) have applications. See them and they will help you fill it out, and return it to our office. The HSUB Director will approve the application and you will receive a letter in the mail welcoming you to the program. You may also Shirley Sanders at 612-659-6558 or visit us.
