Visiting Students

If you want to take a course at MCTC but aren’t seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate here, you can enroll as a visiting student.

Visiting student requirements

  • Visiting students do not need to submit an admission application to MCTC
  • Visiting students are not eligible for financial aid from MCTC, as they are not seeking a degree, diploma or certificate here. Talk to your home institution about financial aid options
  • Visiting students must meet all course prerequisites
  • Visiting students do not need to attend new student orientation
  • You should check with your home institution about course transferability before registering
  • If you decide to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate program at MCTC, you will need to apply as a transfer student

Visiting MnSCU Students with a StarID

Follow these steps if you are a current student at another MnSCU system college or university, but are not seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate at MCTC.

  1. Log into eServices at your home institution with your existing StarID and password
  2. Select Courses & Registration, then Search for a course. Select Minneapolis Community and Technical College from the College/Universities menu.
  3. Find your desired course at MCTC and add it to your Wish List
  4. Review your plan and register
  5. Pay tuition and fees
  6. Purchase your books

Visiting Students without a StarID

Follow these steps if you are not currently admitted at another MnSCU system college or university, plan to take only select courses at MCTC, and are not seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate.

  1. Create a StarID and associate it with MCTC
  2. Login to eServices with your new StarID
  3. Choose Select Courses, then select Minneapolis Community and Technical College from the menu
  4. Find your desired course and click the Add button on the left
  5. Select Continue to Review My Plan (located above your search results, to the right) to view your Wish List
  6. Check the box for the course, then choose Select Course(s) to Proceed to Register
  7. Enter your password (the same one you used with your StarID to log in) and select Register
  8. If you receive a message that your registration failed or that you must meet course prerequisites, please fill out a Visiting Student Registration form and submit it to the Student Services Center (T.2200). Attach unofficial transcripts to show that you have met any course prerequisites.
