Each May, MCTC holds a graduation ceremony to celebrate the many academic accomplishments of our students.
If you are the guest of one of our students who has been given a ticket to attend the Graduation Ceremony for 2014-15 graduates we welcome you to join us at this special event on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 7 p.m.
Location and parking
Commencement will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium (1301 2nd Ave in Minneapolis). The cost of parking at most ramps near the convention center is approximately $10. You could also park in the MCTC parking ramp for $5 (or $2.50 with a prepaid parking card) and walk; the convention center is less than a half mile from the MCTC campus.
Tickets needed for each guest
Every guest attending Commencement will need a ticket, as space is limited. Each graduate will pick up a limited number of tickets (approx. 5 per graduate). Graduates are responsible for ensuring each of their guests has a ticket to attend the Ceremony. Graduates can find details about picking up tickets for their guests on May 21 on the graduation preparation page of the intranet.
Should any additional tickets be available for redistribution, we will distribute them outside of the Auditorium on a first-come, first-distributed basis.
Arrival time for guests
The Convention Center Auditorium doors will open for seating at 6 p.m.
Accommodations for people with disabilities
If graduates or guests require accommodation to make it possible to attend the Graduation Ceremony (such as wheelchair access, special seating, or a sign language interpreter), please contact the Disability Services Office at 612-659-6730 (Voice) or 612-659-6731 (TTY). Please remember that each of your guests will need a ticket in order to attend the Ceremony.
The graduation program will be made available in alternate format by calling Disability Services at 612-659-6730 (Voice) or 612-659-6731 (TTY).
To ensure that the Ceremony is enjoyable and safe for everyone, we ask that family and guests only take pictures and videotape from their seats. Pictures can also be taken before and after Commencement in the lobby. GradImages® will photograph graduates receiving their diploma covers during the ceremony. Proofs will be mailed to graduates within the two weeks following the Ceremony, at which time the graduate can purchase prints.
No secure area is available at the Convention Center for purses and/or other valuables.
In order for all guests to enjoy Commencement without distraction, we ask that you turn off your cell phone during the Graduation Ceremony. We appreciate your thoughtfulness in this matter.
