Office 365: Student Email FAQs

Between Monday, Aug. 5 and Friday, Aug. 11, MCTC will be upgrading student email to Office 365. During this time you may experience issues accessing your campus email account and you will NOT be able to reset your passwords.

On Aug. 12, all MCTC Students will be upgraded to a new StarID email account. Below are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the upgrade.

Please remember, your campus email is your campus community's official method of communicating with you so please ensure you check your new StarID account frequently.

Will I experience downtime with my old email account while the upgrade is being made?

The upgrade process will occur Aug. 2 through Aug. 11. During this time you may experience issues accessing your email and you will NOT be able to reset your password.

If you experience issues logging in, follow the steps below:

  1. Wait five minutes
  2. Ensure you are using Outlook
  3. Re-enter your user name and password

Will my email address change?

Yes. On Aug. 12 you will have a new email account with a new email address of StarID@go.minneapolis.edu (example: ab1234cd@go.minneapolis.edu).

Your StarID email address will be used by the campus community (including faculty) to communicate with you so ensure you check this account frequently.

What will happen to my old email account? Will I lose my emails?

You will have access to your old email account and emails until Nov. 10, 2013. Please discontinue use of this email account and start moving important emails now.

How do I access my new StarID email account?

Access Outlook.

  • Your Username will be your StarID + @go.minneapolis.edu (example: ab1234cd@go.minneapolis.edu)
  • Your password will be your StarID password

How do I access my old account and emails?

To access your old account: Sign in using your old email address and password.

NOTE: You will receive a login failure if you login using the old email login page. Please ensure you remove old bookmarks and use Outlook.

How do I reset my password to my old email account?

Passwords to your old email account can be reset through eServices by logging in with your MCTC TechID / password.

NOTE: Passwords cannot be reset during the upgrade starting Monday Aug. 5 through Aug. 11.

Will I have access to my SkyDrive account?

Yes. Anything saved to your SkyDrive account will be available. However, the SkyDrive account will no longer be supported by MCTC. If you need assistance (such as password resets) you will need to contact Microsoft.
