Professional counselors are here to assist you in coping with difficulties that are affecting your life and academic progress. We also provide career counseling services to help you choose your major or career.
Personal and crisis counseling
Counselors offer confidential one-on-one personal counseling. The following are examples of some of the issues with which we are able to assist you:
- Anxiety and test anxiety
- Chemical abuse
- Eating disorders
- Relationship issues
- Sexual orientation
- Stress management
- Time management
- Transition to college
We are also aware of and able to refer you to community agencies and services that may be able to assist you.
Online mental health screenings
We provide free and anonymous online mental health screenings so that you can easily find out whether or not a professional consultation with a MCTC College Counselor or off-campus therapist would be helpful to you. The mental health screening can be found here.
Counselors are here to assist you in your career decision making. Many students are undecided about their career plans or academic programs. Counselors can assist you with strategies to explore and make an informed decision on a career that will a good fit for you. Career counseling may involve discussing the following:
- Your values, interests and skills
- Identifying resources for gathering career information
- Career opportunities
- The job market (salaries, employment outlook, working conditions)
- Education and training you need for various careers
- Decision-making skills
- Changing majors or careers
