Introduction

This section of the Tutorial will introduce you to World Wide Web indexes, online library catalogs and online magazine databases. Online indexes can be effective tools for locating information, however, each online index works a little differently and assumes that you know how to use it. The lessons in this module will help prepare you to search some of the online indexes available at the Library.

If you would like to learn even more about Internet search engines and online databases once you finish this module see our Web and Online Searching Course. Web and Online Searching (INFS 1500) is a 2 credit course that provides the skills necessary to effectively search and evaluate information on the World Wide Web and in online databases. The course covers advanced searching techniques using a variety of online resources, as well as some of the ethical and legal issues related to the online environment.
