Introduction

If you have been using this Tutorial in sequence you now have an understanding of how to search for information using various electronic databases and the Internet. Many people assume that online databases and the Internet provide the most efficient way to access information. Such assumptions are often false. Sometimes online databases and the Internet are absolutely the wrong tools to use for locating information. The goal of this Tutorial is to help you understand how to choose the right research tools for your specific information need. As we mentioned in Lesson 3, the more precisely you define your research topic, the more likely you will know which research tools to use in locating information.

There are all kinds of print resources to assist you in locating quality information. In this Tutorial we will examine a number of the most commonly used print resources. It is our hope that by the end of this module you will come to appreciate the value of print-based library resources and use them to assist you in locating material for your research.
