So why are we here?
The mission of the SeniorNet Learning Center is to provide basic personal computer education for people over 50.
We are a non-profit organization staffed primarily by volunteers who have a single goal -- to teach seniors how to use a personal computer.
Gladys Green founded the Minneapolis center in 1995 with a gift from Wheelock Whitney. National SeniorNet provided the initial support. The operational support was arranged with the Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
Since the first class was held in 1996, our volunteer s have given basic computer training to over 2000 seniors by providing over 34,000 hours of classroom instruction.
We provide low-cost personal computer (PC) courses for people over 50 in a supportive learning environment. In our classes, you learn from other seniors; an instructor and coaches that will ensure that you receive a positive learning experience.
When
Classes are held three terms each year, winter, spring and fall. Classes are two-hours, one day a week for a four-week session. There are two class periods each day, morning and afternoon Monday through Thursday.
Classrooms
There are two classrooms with a PC workstation for each student. One classroom has ten student PC's and the other six. Each classroom has an instructor's PC with an overhead projector.
