Jump Start to College is a tuition free program that provides Minneapolis Public School students the opportunity to take pre-college classes that will count towards high school graduation requirements. If you are accepted into the Jump Start to College program, it also makes you eligible for PSEO and concurrent enrollment courses.
Jump Start to College courses are held at MCTC and are co-taught by high school and college faculty members. Grades earned in this program will transfer to the college.
Jump Start to College course offerings include: reading, English, math and English as a second language. You are eligible to receive academic support in each course including access to a computer and tutoring from your high school teacher.
Jump Start to College classes are held during summer, fall and spring semesters. All courses are held on the MCTC campus. Summer courses are offered between 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., while Fall and Spring semester courses take place between 2:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Summer 2012 applications are currently being accepted. The deadline to apply is May 15, 2012. Summer classes begin on June 11, 2012.
Eligibility for this program is determined by Accuplacer test results. You must be a current Minneapolis public or alternative school student. If you need information regarding your Accuplacer test results or to schedule a time to take the test, please contact Becky Koltes.
