Become a Free Agent in the New Workforce
Traditional employment opportunities are declining, with more than 40 percent of American workers classified as free agents at the start of 2012. How do you thrive in a workforce in which you have to create your own job, your own career, your own living? What skills and talents are needed?
This course provides step-by-step guidance and will demystify the world of the free agent by equipping you with the understanding, perspective, and skills to seek opportunities with your own products and services. Stop feeling victimized when “jobs” aren’t available or offered to you and learn how you can meet the needs of individuals or organizations and get paid for your work. Don’t be left behind. You can have freedom in your work and thrive in this changing marketplace.
Course objectives include:
- Know yourself: clarify your strengths and preferences regarding work capacities you can offer in the new marketplace.
- Know the marketplace: understand the needs and wants of the marketplace and align your strengths to them.
- Create a plan: artfully craft what you have to offer through goal setting and planning.
- Engage opportunities: engage connections, people and opportunities to make work transactions happen.
- Maintain your practice: develop the structure and practices you need to be your own boss.
How To Be a Free Agent consists of two parts: Introduction and Nuts and Bolts. The Nuts and Bolts class includes two, 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions during the scheduled time.
