English Proficiency Requirements

To be admitted to MCTC as an international student, you must provide proof of English language proficiency. You can meet this requirement through test scores or successful completion of courses.

Test scores and academic reports have to be mailed directly from the testing agency or college to Admissions at MCTC, attention International Admissions Advisor. Test scores cannot be older than 2 years.

Testing options

• Test of the English Foreign Language. Minimum score: 61 on internet-based test, 173 on computer-based test, 500 on paper test. MCTC institution code is 6434.
• Michigan English Language Assessment Battery. Minimum score: 75
• International English Language Testing System. Minimum score: 5.5

Course options

• ESL Language Center at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Complete Intensive Level 109.
• Recent completion of college composition courses with a grade of C or higher from an accredited United States college or university. Send an official transcript to MCTC Admissions, attention International Admissions Advisor.
