Accuplacer Testing Exemptions

If the following applies to you, you may not have to take the placement tests.

Submit a completed Exemption from Testing form to Admissions.

Transfer student

If you have taken courses at an accredited college or university, submit the following:

Previous Accuplacer testing

Reading, writing and ESOL placement test results are valid for 3 years. Math tests are valid for 2 years. Test results must be valid on the first day of the semester. Submit test results to Admissions.

You are not seeking a degree, diploma or certificate

Testing may not be required if you are not seeking a degree, diploma or certificate. Testing is required if you are enrolling in English, English as a second language, reading, math or a class with a prerequisite based on placement testing. Please see the Request for Placement Test Exemption form for qualifications.

ACT scores

If using ACT subject area scores, please note that the validity dates for those are the same as the validity dates for test scores. MCTC does not use composite ACT scores.
