Accuplacer Testing Exemptions
You may request a full or partial exemption from the Accuplacer test if you have:
- Completed college-level course work (AP and CLEP included) in reading, English composition and/or math that’s equivalent to courses offered at MCTC.
- If you have completed at least 15 semester credits of reading-intensive, general education coursework with an overall GPA of 2.0, you may receive a testing exemption in reading
- Goal 4 math courses can be used to meet program requirements if transferred, but cannot be used for a testing exemption in math
- Taken the ACT test and scored a 21 or higher in reading, 18 or higher in English and/or 22 or higher in math. ACT scores in Reading and English older than three years and Math scores older than two years cannot be considered for a test exemption. Scores must be valid as of the first day of the semester.
To be considered for a placement test exemption, you will need to bring, mail, fax or email your college transcript(s) or test scores to the Admissions office, along with this completed form.
For test exemption purposes an unofficial transcript or unofficial test
scores are acceptable. All transcripts/test scores submitted must
display the your name and the name of the issuing institution.
