"Lysistrata" was written by one of the greatest comic dramatists of all times, the Greek genius Aristophanes. The play’s action centers around a group of women who are sick and tired of their men fighting war after war: they resent, in a word, what the wars do to their home life and the life of the state. So the women hit on a plan that, if successful, will keep their men at home instead of on the battlefield. The sisters’ plan is ingenious, hilarious, daring and sexy.

MCTC’s production will be directed by Obie Award-winning director Maxine Klein. Scenic and Lighting Designer for Lysistrata is by Kathy A. Stewart with costumes designed by Barbara Portinga. The production will be stage managed by MCTC alumnus Justin Kirkeberg with Michael Robertson producing the show. The cast features 16 MCTC and Metropolitan State University students including Mary Van Briesen, Jane Reese, Drew Malcom, Laura Ann Lewis, Aysha Karagoez, Pepper Branster, Shannon Maria Houska, William Anderson, Isaac Bradley, Charles Coleman, Abraham Winter, Carlos Vera, Steven Flamm, Lijesh Krishnan, and J.D. Swanson. Both Elizabeth Streiff and Kathrine Preble are community/volunteer actors for the show.
