"You Can Make a Difference"
Nov. 14, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Plaza Dining Room, T.1243
MCTC screenwriting instructor Alan Miller will be reading from his new book, "You Can Make a Difference." Miller will sign copies of the book at the event.
Alan Miller is host and producer of the award-winning local access television program, “Access to Democracy.”
What do Gov. Mark Dayton, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Sen. Norm Coleman, Sen. Al Franken, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Cong. John Kline, Cong. Keith Ellison, Cong. Betty McCollum, Supreme Court Justice Paul H. Anderson, Supreme Court Justice David Stras, and over 1,000 other officials have in common?
They have all appeared on “Access to Democracy” as guests, in a historical compilation of Who’s Who in Minnesota, Who’s Not Yet Who in Minnesota, and Who’s of Interest in Minnesota (and elsewhere). Miller's labor of love started as one interview request and turned into one of the longest running and successful cable television shows in the state. “Access” has spanned all aspects of Minnesota life.
Alan Miller, with a background in law and teaching credentials from two MnSCU colleges, was also influential in creating the nation’s first public/private partnership in local television broadcasting between the City of Eagan and the Thomson Reuters corporation, the world’s leading provider of communications. Miller, an award-winning columnist, who has been published nationally in both newspapers and magazines, as well as hosting and guesting on other radio and television programs was honored to have forewords by both Justice Paul H. Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court and Dave St. Peter, President of the Minnesota Twins.
