MCTC Named National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Two-Year Education

MINNEAPOLIS (October 12, 2012)—The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) as one of only 20 colleges in the country named as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Two-Year Education. MCTC is the second college in Minnesota to receive this award.

This designation honors higher education institutions for training students to become skilled professionals who defend America’s cyberspace, helping to meet the critical shortage of individuals skilled in the field. This recognition covers academic years 2012 through 2017.

MCTC demonstrates continued responsiveness to homeland security issues, including both data protection and people protection. In addition to preparing individuals to maintain tight cyberspace security, MCTC continues to be one of the few colleges in the United States providing college credit work to TSA professionals.
