Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Chancellor Steven Rosenstone spoke to a crowd of faculty, staff, students, administrators, neighbors, alumni, business and community leaders at the grand opening of MCTC’s new state-of-the-art student center on Thursday, May 3.
“This building exemplifies MCTC’s commitment to students,” Chancellor Rosenstone said of the Helland Center. “This is an example of what happens when faculty, staff, students, administrators and community leaders come together. This is a student centered college.”
The Chancellor joined MCTC President Phil Davis, Student Senate President Brad Conley and Student Senate Past Presidents Geoffrey Dittberner and Aaron Spiegel, in the ceremonial ribbon cutting. All three of the students have been named to USA Today’sAll-USA Community College Academic Team.

About the Helland Center
After a dramatic renovation and expansion, the new and improved Helland Center and the Fine Arts lobby opened its doors for the start of spring semester, 2012.
Both spaces have been transformed in a way that complements the rest of campus and offers many expanded features. MCTC students are quickly making these new spaces their home. Some of the new features include: an expanded Student Health Clinic, a multi-purpose event space, a convenience store, a smoothie bar and an expansive study space, just to name a few.
