MCTC Celebrates 7th Annual MLK Day of Service
Minneapolis Community and Technical College continues its ongoing effort to celebrate the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by presenting its 7th annual Day of Service to take place Saturday, Jan. 17 from 8–11:30 a.m.
Where Do We Go From Here?
This year’s day of service draws on MCTC Interim President Avelino Mills-Novoa’s challenge to engage in a dialogue on race, racism and reconciliation in support of the MCTC community. This year, volunteers will remain on the MCTC campus to make blankets for students who are experiencing need. All blankets will be donated to the MCTC Resource and Referral Center where they will be distributed to students. Volunteers are also invited to bring a non-perishable food item, pair of shoes or other item needed by the Resource and Referral Center.
The program, titled Where Do We Go From Here, will feature a message for peace, dance by members of the MCTC African Student Continental Club, a poetry jam, photographic reflections from students of the MCTC Race in America course and more.
