Forging a Workforce Partnership
MCTC and Mortenson Construction Build Workforce Partnership
Mortenson Construction, contractor for MCTC’s current Workforce project and the company responsible for construction of Target Field, the TCF Bank Stadium, Walker Art Center expansion and the Minneapolis Central Library, visited the College recently to celebrate their partnership with MCTC. To date, Mortenson has collaborated with MCTC Architectural Technology students who assisted Mortenson with community presentations, and Career and Technical Education students who learned onsite about construction techniques, elevator shaft modeling and OSHA and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) training. Mortenson's Minneapolis branch Vice President Ken Sorensen discussed the electricity, HVACR and welding employment prospects which will be available during the construction of the new Vikings stadium.
