Student Wins Miss Pan African Pageant
Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) student Brittany McCreary won the 2012 Miss Pan African Pageant during the 36th Dr. Michael T. Fagin Pan African Student Leadership Conference at Minnesota State University Mankato. As a 22-year-old majoring in liberal arts, this award is a natural extension of Brittany’s passion – musical performance. In the future, she would love to extend her passion to others by implementing a mentoring program for youth interested in the arts. This honor marks MCTC’s fourth year in a row taking first place in the talent ceremony.
About the Conference
This year’s conference, “Recognizing and Celebrating Pan Africans in the Global Society,” brought internationally known scholars and African activists together to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the differences and similarities among African individuals (e.g. customs, values, etc.). In addition to raising awareness, keynote speakers, panelists and facilitators aimed to help delegates find solutions to the global problems confronting African communities.
